Miami, United States | 26 March 2026 President Julius Maada Bio has called for a fairer and more inclusive global economic system, urging world leaders, investors, and development partners to place greater emphasis on human capital development and sustainable growth.
Speaking at the FII PRIORITY Summit 2026 in Miami, President Bio argued that the international community must strengthen cooperation to confront shared challenges, including widening economic inequality, climate change, and limited access to quality education.
The President said Africa, and *Sierra Leone in particular, is prepared to partner with external stakeholders to expand opportunities for growth, innovation, and job creation. He pointed to Sierra Leone’s commitment to investing in people as a long-term strategy for national development, highlighting the continued expansion of the *Free Quality Education initiative.
President Bio also stressed the need for responsible investment, saying global capital should be directed toward outcomes that go beyond financial returns. He said investment in developing countries should support employment, build resilience, and improve livelihoods, while contributing to broader development goals.
On climate-related concerns, the President urged stronger support for vulnerable nations that bear the greatest burden of environmental disruptions despite contributing the least to the problem. He reiterated Sierra Leone’s dedication to climate action and called for intensified global partnerships to finance adaptation and mitigation efforts.
The summit, which brings together global leaders, business executives, and policymakers, is expected to advance discussion on innovative solutions to pressing international issues. President Bio’s participation, officials said, reinforces Sierra Leone’s growing engagement on the world stage and its resolve to help shape a more equitable and sustainable future.
