The Regional Criminal Investigation Department South has arrested four people in connection with the alleged murder of Gilo Simenda, who was stabbed to death following an “after BECE” entertainment gathering in Gerehun Town, Baoma Chiefdom, Bo District.
Police said the suspects were picked up on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, during intelligence-led operations. According to investigators, credible information linked the four to the fatal attack.
Simenda, a native of Kalia Community in Kakua Chiefdom, sustained multiple stab wounds during the event held at the Roman Catholic Boys School Hall in Gerehun Town. He was later pronounced dead, an incident that has sparked concern across Baoma Chiefdom.
All four suspects are currently in custody at the Regional CID South headquarters in Bo and are assisting with investigations.
Regional Crime Officer South, Mr. Jabaty, confirmed that inquiries have reached an advanced stage.
“We urge the public to remain calm and allow the police to conduct a thorough and professional investigation,” Mr. Jabaty said. “Anyone with useful information should come forward. We also caution against mob justice.”
He noted that clique-related violence and substance abuse have been emerging concerns in the area, though he did not directly connect the arrested suspects to those issues.
Residents who spoke to Daily Scope on condition of anonymity alleged that the stabbing followed a confrontation between two rival youth groups identified as the “Blue-Black Movement” and the “Red Flag Movement.” Police have not confirmed the claim.
Paramount Chief authorities in Baoma have also called on residents to support the police with information that could help identify any other persons involved.
The Sierra Leone Police is encouraging members of the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station as investigations continue.
