Congo Cross Police Seize Over 800 Wraps of Suspected Kush in Anti-Drug Operation

Freetown, October 31, 2025 – In a robust crackdown on illicit drug activities in the Western Urban District, the Congo Cross Police Division has successfully executed a series of raids, resulting in significant arrests and the seizure of over 800 wraps of suspected narcotics.

The operations, led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Sahr Nyuma, the Local Unit Commander, and coordinated by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Amadu Babah Kanu, took place between 8:40 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. on Friday.

The first raid occurred at approximately 9:00 a.m. at the Murray Town Market, where police apprehended one Idrissa Kamara, who was found with 124 wraps of dried leaves believed to be Kush.

Continuing their efforts, the police team proceeded to the Kolo Stick Manfengbeh Community, where they dismantled two makeshift structures suspected to be used for drug sales.

Later in the day, at around 3:10 p.m., authorities executed a search warrant at No. 8 Rassmusson Street, located behind Siaka Stevens Stadium. During this operation, suspects Alfred Kanu and Mariama Bangura were discovered with 707 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Kush, along with additional quantities hidden in a black plastic bag.

The suspects are currently in custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations, while all seized items have been secured as evidence.
