Crucial Testimony Emerges in Mohamed Conteh Murder Case

In ongoing proceedings regarding the murder of Mohamed Conteh, both accused individuals are facing serious charges stemming from events that allegedly occurred on December 22, 2024, at Bonga Lane in Freetown. The charge sheet asserts that the accused conspired together to commit the crime on that fateful day.

During the court hearings, Defense Counsel Luseini cross-examined police witness Inspector Alusine Bob Conteh, who served as the investigating officer in the case. Inspector Conteh has a decade of experience in handling investigations. In his testimony, he stated that upon visiting the crime scene, he found that the witnesses he spoke with did not indicate that the deceased had been beaten by unknown assailants.

The inspector also revealed that the inquiry into the matter revealed the involvement of a woman named Sylvia, who, along with others, remains at large. Inspector Conteh explained that he charged the accused persons based on the guidance received from the Law Officers Department and noted that Sylvia had allegedly been the one shouting accusations against the deceased, claiming he was a thief.

When pressed by Defense Counsel Luseini to provide a progress report from his investigation, the witness admitted that he did not have it available in court but promised to present it if given more time. Counsel then formally requested that this progress report be submitted as part of the evidence, citing sections 3 and 4 of the Criminal Procedures Act of 1865.

Furthermore, Inspector Conteh affirmed that both accused were cautioned about their rights during the investigation. He indicated that they were arrested on the same day, December 22, 2024, at approximately 18:00 hours, although he could not recall specific details.

As the court proceedings continued, Defense Counsel Luseini sought an adjournment to facilitate the continuation of cross-examination.

The court reconvenes today, March 17, 2025, with further developments anticipated in this high-profile murder case.
