FREETOWN, Saturday, September 20, 2026 — The Government has opened direct engagement with the management of Marampa Mines over mounting financial challenges threatening the company’s operations.
According to the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources, the talks focused on the key constraints affecting the company’s operations and practical measures to strengthen its financial sustainability and ensure continuity of mining activities.
The discussions provided an opportunity for both Government and the company to explore workable solutions to address the current difficulties while sustaining Marampa Mines’ contribution to Sierra Leone’s mining sector.
The Ministry noted that the engagement is part of Government’s broader commitment to maintain constructive dialogue with mining companies and to work collaboratively in resolving challenges that could undermine the viability of mining operations.
Government further stressed the importance of ensuring that the mining sector continues to play a meaningful role in national economic development and job creation.
