The Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion has urged government, political parties, and other stakeholders to move from dialogue to delivery by fully implementing recent peace agreements.
Speaking on behalf of the Commission, Executive Secretary Hawa Sally Samai said signing agreements alone will not address the country’s political and social challenges. She stressed that concrete action is required to translate commitments into results that strengthen democracy and sustain peace.
“Implementation is what gives meaning to dialogue,” Samai stated. “When leaders honour their commitments, it builds public trust, reinforces democratic governance, and reduces the risk of renewed conflict.”
The ICPNC boss noted that the agreements reached through national dialogue processes provide a roadmap for reconciliation and stability. She called on all political actors and institutions to demonstrate accountability and work together to ensure the provisions are carried out in full.
Samai reaffirmed the Commission’s mandate to promote dialogue, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence across Sierra Leone. She added that peace and national cohesion remain a shared responsibility requiring continuous cooperation from citizens, civil society, and the state.
According to the Commission, effective implementation of the peace agreements is critical to consolidating national unity, preserving stability, and creating the conditions necessary for sustainable development.
