WATERLOO — A man accused of impersonating a lawyer for nearly five years was arrested at the Waterloo Magistrate Court on Thursday, August 27, 2026, after allegedly attempting to represent a client in a bail matter.
The suspect appeared before Magistrate Shaka P. Kamara, popularly known as “Shaka P,” and reportedly sought access to the Magistrate’s Chambers to apply for bail.
According to court sources, the man had allegedly received NLe10,000 for the purported legal services. His presence and conduct raised questions, prompting further scrutiny from court officials.
Barrister Abdul A. Kamara of Nicol-Wilson & Co., Malaika Chamber, reportedly questioned the man about his legal credentials and authority to practice.
During the questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted that he had been presenting himself as a lawyer for about five years. He further claimed to have represented clients in different parts of Sierra Leone and identified himself as being associated with “Glorious Chamber.”
The revelation has raised concerns that members of the public may have engaged his services in the past without knowing he was allegedly not a qualified legal practitioner.
Following the incident, the suspect was arrested at the court premises and handed over to the Sierra Leone Police. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
