Major Drug Bust: LDEA Intercepts $77,000 Shipment in Lofa County

On March 17, 2025, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and Joint Security forces successfully intercepted a significant drug shipment in the Foya District of Lofa County, valued at over $77,000 USD.

At approximately 10:45 PM, the LDEA received a tip-off regarding a black pickup truck with Liberian license plate A533348, suspected of transporting narcotics. The vehicle was reportedly en route from Sierra Leone to Monrovia. Acting on the information, security forces apprehended the truck in Lofa County.

The driver, 43-year-old Fayiah Lamie, a resident of Monrovia, initially maintained that he was only transporting clothes and slippers. However, a subsequent search by authorities uncovered 772 plates of high-grade marijuana, estimated to be worth around $77,200 USD (approximately 14.6 million Liberian dollars). In addition, authorities discovered eight boxes of Tramadol, valued at $842 USD (160,000 Liberian dollars).

Lamie has been taken into custody and is currently under investigation, with charges anticipated to follow soon.
