Man Injured While Attempting Escape During Police Drug Raid in Freetown

FREETOWN — A man named Yusuf Kamara was hospitalized with a broken leg after jumping from a three-storey building while trying to evade law enforcement during a police raid on Lumley Beach Road. The incident occurred on November 17, 2025, as part of a nationwide initiative to combat the trafficking and use of kush and other illicit substances.

Authorities responded promptly, providing first aid at the scene before transporting Kamara to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Following his recovery, he was taken into custody for further questioning as investigations into the raid continue.

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has reiterated its dedication to addressing drug abuse and ensuring community safety. Officials emphasized that all individuals apprehended will receive necessary medical care and follow due process as mandated by law.
