OBITUARY ANNOUNCEMENT
With profound sadness, the Hazeley family announces the peaceful passing of Mr. John Edward Tchukwuma Hazeley, affectionately known as “Pa Hazeley” and “Uncle Chuku.” He entered eternal rest on Monday, 8th June 2026, in Maryland, USA, at the age of 89.
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife of 63 years, Mrs. Matilda Hazeley; his children, Rachel Jeff-Macauley, John Hazeley Jr., Matilda Hazeley, Alice Kpolie, Minnie Finney, and Emmanuel Conteh; his sons-in-law, Lancelot Jeff-Macauley, Jeff Kpolie, and Arnold Finney; as well as his nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
He also leaves behind a wide circle of relatives, lifelong friends, loved ones and families including Hazeley, Young, Scott & Rowe of Congo Town, Faulkner(Wilberforce), Jones of Ascension Town, Edwards, Elliott, Cole, During, A. T. Williams, Macauley, Kpolie, Finney, Eugene During (New York), Hamelberg & Marlin of Wilberforce, Joaque, and Conteh of Fourah Bay Town, Ekundayo Collier(Canada), Percy Johnson, Donald Smythe, Louis Dworzak, Matilda Davies, Members of Bethel Methodist Church, Wilberforce; Pennsauken United Methodist Church, New Jersey, Grace United Methodist Church Gaithersburg Maryland and the Wilberforce Hunters Society.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, 11th July 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Pennsauken United Methodist Church, New Jersey, USA, followed by interment at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, New Jersey.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, 26th July 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Bethel Methodist Church, Wilberforce.
May the soul of Mr. John Edward Tchukwuma Hazeley rest in perfect peace. Amen.
