The National Social Security and Insurance Trust is set to roll out a new mobile application that will bring pension and social security services directly to the phones of contributors and pensioners nationwide.
The launch is part of NASSIT’s wider digital transformation programme aimed at cutting long queues, reducing travel costs, and making access to services faster and more convenient.
In a video announcing the new pension administration system, NASSIT said the app was designed to put users at the centre of service delivery.
Key features of the platform include:
– Pay contributions and track funds directly from a mobile phone
– Update personal records, view statements, and check dependents
– Retirement planning tools to project expected benefits
– Mobile money integration with Orange Money, Africell Money and QMoney for benefit payments and transactions
– USSD access for users without internet to pay contributions and check balances
– Direct bank transfers to reduce trips to banks and waiting times
– SMS and email alerts on transactions, contributions and benefits
– Biometric verification using voice recognition and fingerprints for digital identity
NASSIT described the system as a “major transformation in service delivery” that will be quicker, more flexible and easier to use for both pensioners and active contributors.
“The transformation has been designed with pensioners and contributors at the centre,” the Trust said. “Customer satisfaction and easier access remain top priorities.”
The Trust is urging the public to stay alert for the official rollout date, noting that the app will address long-standing challenges in traditional service delivery and bring NASSIT services closer to the people.
The move marks another major step in NASSIT’s push to provide more efficient, technology-driven social security services across Sierra Leone.
