The National Public Procurement Authority and the Sierra Leone Roads Authority have carried out a joint inspection of five ongoing feeder road projects in the western peninsula of Freetown.

The monitoring team, led by NPPA’s Director of Engineering Ing. Sheku Leeid Sheriff, visited sites at Murray Town, Sugar Land, Wadlobe, Bockarie Drive in Goderich, and Guana Avenue. SECON Construction Company is executing the works under government’s feeder roads development programme.

Engineers from both agencies assessed construction progress, material quality, compliance with design specifications, and project timelines. They also held discussions with site supervisors and project engineers on technical challenges and mitigation measures to keep the works on schedule.

Speaking during the exercise, Ing. Sheriff said regular monitoring is vital to ensure accountability and value for public funds.

“Continuous oversight helps us identify gaps early and recommend corrective action before small issues become costly delays,” he said.

Officials from NPPA and SLRA said the joint inspections reaffirm their commitment to delivering road infrastructure that improves mobility and supports local economic activity in the Western Area.

The feeder roads initiative targets rural and peri-urban communities to reduce travel time, lower transport costs, and link residents to markets, schools and health facilities.
