LUNGI — The Traffic Division of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in Lungi, in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), has put motorbike riders on notice over persistent road safety violations.
The warning was issued during a sensitisation exercise at Rotifunk Market Park, Lungi, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, led by Divisional Traffic Officer, Madam Augusta Mary Sesay.
The exercise targeted reckless practices, including displaying names or other markings in place of registration number plates, overloading passengers and goods, riding without helmets, wearing slippers while riding, and using mobile phones on the road.
Madam Sesay warned that riders who flout safety regulations will face the full force of the law, stressing the need for responsible riding as the festive season approaches.
The Chairman of Rotifunk Market Park welcomed the initiative and pledged riders’ compliance with the regulations.
Participants commended the police and SLRSA for the timely intervention aimed at reducing accidents and saving lives.
