Security personnel employed by Angel Security Company in Freetown have alleged that they have not received salaries for four months, despite continuing to provide security services for major telecommunications infrastructure across the city.
According to the workers, they first raised the issue privately with concerned individuals and groups, which led to what they described as an independent inquiry. The workers claim the findings indicate that the telecommunications firms that contract Angel Security Company have paid the company for its services.
However, the guards allege that Angel Security Company management has failed to distribute the money to employees. The company’s office is reportedly located at *No. 7 Ferguson Street, behind *Pademba Road Prison.
The workers also expressed fear of possible retaliation if they speak publicly, saying they are concerned about losing their jobs. Many described their financial situation as critical, stating that their monthly salaries are the main source of support for their families and, in some cases, their children’s schooling.
They further explained that they commonly travel on foot to their assigned posts and remain committed to their duties despite the alleged non-payment, emphasizing that the situation is affecting not only their household income but also their ability to meet basic obligations.
The allegations have prompted calls for intervention from the Ministry of Labour, as well as law enforcement and other relevant authorities. Those raising the concern urged the public to support efforts aimed at addressing what they described as unfair treatment of workers amid the wider economic hardship affecting many citizens.
As of the time of this report, Angel Security Company has not issued a public response to the allegations, and there has been no official statement from the Ministry of Labour regarding the matter.
