FREETOWN, Saturday, September 20, 2026 — A shop assistant accused of stealing Le 30,000 from his employer has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after his initial court appearance.
The accused, Abu Bakarr Fornah, was arraigned before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on a single count of Larceny as a Servant, contrary to Section 17(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to court records, the alleged theft occurred on August 31, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m. at No. 14 Malama Thomas Street in Freetown. The prosecution alleges that Fornah, who was employed by Fatu Bangura, stole the sum of Le 30,000 belonging to his boss.
When the charge was read and explained to him, no plea was taken as the matter is still at the committal stage.
Prosecuting Counsel, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, informed the court that the accused had been duly served with copies of the case file and other inquiry documents.
Magistrate Fornah denied bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, and ordered that the accused be remanded in custody.
The matter was adjourned to September 25, 2026, for further hearing.
