President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, arrived in Sierra Leone on Sunday for a three-day state visit aimed at strengthening relations and expanding cooperation between the two nations.
He was received at Freetown International Airport in Lungi by Vice President Dr. Mohammed Juldeh Jalloh. The visit, scheduled to end on Tuesday, August 4, is taking place at the invitation of President Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
Government officials said the visit is President Nguema’s first to Sierra Leone since his constitutional election on May 3, 2025, and will focus on deepening collaboration in trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, and governance.
Ahead of the arrival, the Ministry of Information and Civic Education outlined the objectives of the visit during a press briefing on Friday at the Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown.
Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education, Hon. Bockarie Abdel-Aziz Bawoh, said the visit demonstrates the strengthening partnership between Sierra Leone and Gabon, anchored on mutual commitment to peace, democratic governance, economic cooperation, and sustainable development.
During the stay, President Nguema is expected to hold bilateral meetings with senior government officials, engage the private sector, and visit key tourism destinations to showcase Sierra Leone’s investment potential.
“This visit will create new opportunities for trade and investment between our two countries. It is expected to attract direct foreign investment into Sierra Leone and reinforce confidence among Sierra Leoneans living and doing business in Gabon,” Hon. Bawoh stated.
