Tragedy Strikes Freetown: Unfinished Building Collapse Claims Young Lives

Freetown – A devastating building collapse on Blackhall Road, Kissy, has resulted in the deaths of two children, with a third fighting for life. The incident occurred on Wednesday at an unfinished multi-storey structure opposite Mende Church, sparking widespread shock and outrage.

Eyewitnesses reported that part of the building gave way while children played nearby, prompting neighbours and passersby to rush to the scene. Emergency services, including fire and rescue teams, ambulances, and police, quickly arrived, securing the area and launching search and rescue operations.

Authorities have cordoned off the site, and structural engineers are set to investigate the collapse, examining construction practices, permits, and safety protocols. The incident has raised concerns about building safety in Freetown, with local leaders calling for a thorough investigation and stricter enforcement of regulations.

The community is in mourning, with residents demanding answers and action to prevent similar tragedies. The condition of the injured child remains critical.
