Sierra Leone’s NEW Observes Benin Presidential Poll, Bolsters Regional Democracy Efforts

Freetown, Sierra Leone – The National Election Watch (NEW) has deployed observers to Benin to monitor the country’s presidential election, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s regional engagement. Rev. James A. Lahai, National Coordinator of NEW, leads the West Africa Election Observers Network (WAEON) delegation, while Kadiatu Tholley, a young women’s leader from Port Loko District, represents NEW under the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) banner.

NEW’s participation in the April 12, 2026, election underscores its growing reputation as a champion of democratic governance in West Africa. The organization’s expertise in evidence-based reporting and professionalism has earned it recognition from regional and international partners.
