Pa Demba Road Magistrates’ Court No. 2 has remanded two Freetown businessmen in custody after denying bail in connection with the alleged theft of a medical machine valued at US$37,100.
Magistrate John Manso Fornah made the ruling on Tuesday as committal proceedings continued against Abdul Jabba Mansaray and Joseph Bellon.
Mansaray faces three counts: conspiracy to commit a crime, larceny, and obtaining money by false pretences. Bellon has been charged with receiving stolen goods. Neither accused was asked to take a plea, as the case remains at the committal stage.
Testifying for the prosecution, Detective Sergeant Mohamed Vandi of the CID Headquarters detailed aspects of the investigation. He told the court that a search of Bellon’s business premises yielded several items, including an iPhone 11 Pro Max. Statements obtained from Bellon during questioning were also tendered in evidence.
The detective further informed the court that investigators had examined a Samsung Galaxy A15, an Itel Power 900 handset, and Le 50,000 in cash as part of the inquiry.
Prosecutors also tendered photographs of the alleged stolen medical machine and the bag said to have been used to transport it, as part of the evidence linking Bellon to the offence.
The court heard that Mansaray allegedly admitted involvement during a police interview conducted on 9th April 2026.
Lawyers A.B. Sesay and C. Campbell, representing the accused, applied for bail. Magistrate Fornah declined the application, citing the gravity of the charges.
The matter was adjourned to 6th July 2026 for continuation of committal proceedings.
