In a recent court hearing, two defendants, 18-year-old Milford King and 19-year-old Nyakeh Lahai Kallon, faced charges related to the theft of various items valued at a total of Thirty-Nine Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy Leones (Le 39,870). Among the stolen goods were an engagement gold and diamond ring worth Two Thousand United States Dollars (USD 2,000), an Apple AirPods Pro valued at Two Hundred United States Dollars (USD 200), a large tin of body Vaseline priced at Five Hundred New Leones (Le 500), an HP computer also worth Five Thousand New Leones (Le 5,000), and a hard drive valued at Two Thousand Four Hundred and Forty New Leones (NLe 2,440).
As the charges were read, neither defendant entered a plea. Inspector Bangura M. presented compelling evidence, including testimony from Witness No. 1, Amina Mans, a businesswoman who identified the accused in court. Mans recounted receiving a call from her daughter while she was at her shop, alerting her to significant damage at their home. Upon returning, she discovered her kitchen door was broken and several rooms’ ceilings had been damaged.
Mans reported the theft of her church bag, which contained Three Thousand New Leones, and a box that had been opened with One Thousand New Leones inside it. After further investigation, she found a shirt that belonged to neither her nor her family, which led her to contact her son’s friend, George. George later identified the shirt as belonging to Milford King.
Following this identification, George confronted King’s father, resulting in Milford King’s arrest. Mans reported the incident to the Adonkia Police Station, where she provided a formal statement.
During the hearing, the defense counsel applied for bail for both accused. Magistrate Kekura granted bail to Milford King in the sum of One Hundred Leones to April 1, 2025, while Kallon remained in custody.
