A 34-year-old businessman, Alusine Kamara, has been committed to the High Court for trial on charges of alleged rental fraud involving Le40,000. The decision was made by Magistrate Mamakoh Soa Kallon during proceedings at Pademba Road Court No. 3.
According to court documents, the alleged incident occurred on February 22, 2025, in Lumley, Freetown. Kamara is accused of defrauding Chika Nwachukwu by falsely claiming to have two self-contained rooms and a parlour available for rent, an assertion he allegedly knew to be untrue.
During the hearing, Kamara did not enter a plea when the charges were read to him. The prosecution, represented by Police Constable 15098 Sesay M.A., concluded its case and requested a ruling from the Magistrate.
Magistrate Kallon ruled that Kamara has a case to answer under Section 118 of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965. Consequently, she committed the case to the High Court in accordance with Section 120 of the same Act.
Kamara is now set to face trial before a High Court judge in connection with the rental fraud allegations.
