KK Company is facing multiple regulatory actions after a Chinese national was deported over an assault on a local worker and labour officials separately flagged workplace safety violations at its Six Mile facility.
The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security confirmed that Lin Zhang left Sierra Leone after his work permit was revoked following allegations he assaulted factory worker Alagassimu Barrie. Senior officials conducted a follow-up exercise, with KK Company providing travel records confirming Zhang’s departure. The company has permanently banned Zhang from returning to Sierra Leone in connection with its operations.
KK Company also reported internal disciplinary action against a local security guard and another employee allegedly linked to the incident.
In a separate enforcement action, Labour and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) officials inspected the company’s operations and issued an Improvement Notice ordering it to rectify identified safety concerns within a set deadline. Details of the violations were not disclosed, but the Ministry warned that failure to comply will trigger further enforcement.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to protecting workers’ rights and said monitoring will continue to ensure full adherence to labour and workplace safety regulations nationwide.
