Freetown, March 4, 2026 Media Tech Company’s CEO, Mr. Walid, has made a significant contribution to public safety by donating 20 smart solar street lights to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.
During the donation ceremony, Mr. Walid emphasized that the initiative aims to bolster the operational capabilities of the police by improving illumination in key facilities. He highlighted the importance of adequate lighting in fostering a secure working environment and enhancing effective law enforcement.
Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, received the donation with gratitude, calling it a timely and impactful gesture. He noted that this is not Mr. Walid’s first act of support for the SLP; in 2025, he provided 30 surveillance cameras that have been strategically placed across Freetown to improve public safety.
The IGP announced that the new smart solar street lights would be installed at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy—formerly the Police Training School—in Hastings. With upcoming recruitment exercises on the horizon, he stated that the added lighting would greatly enhance security and operational efficiency.
IGP Sellu praised Mr. Walid for his ongoing commitment to community safety and called on other citizens and organizations to follow suit, reinforcing that public safety is a collective responsibility.
The event concluded with the formal handover of the smart solar street lights to the Inspector General of Police.
