The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation and the Ministry of Public Administration and Political Affairs have launched a joint nine-month programme to train 1,000 civil servants in digital skills, as part of efforts to modernize public service delivery nationwide.

The scheme will be implemented at the Civil Service Training College and will draw participants from all 29 ministries, departments and agencies. Course content includes digital tools, data literacy, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, with emphasis on practical application in daily government operations.

According to the agreement, the Civil Service Training College will oversee instruction and assessment, while both ministries will monitor progress and measure impact. Key indicators include reduced administrative processing times, higher uptake of digital services, and the introduction of new digital initiatives within MDAs.

Post-training support will be provided to ensure participants integrate new skills into their roles and mentor colleagues.

Officials said the programme is designed to drive innovation, transparency, and efficiency across government by strengthening digital capacity. The nine-month window allows for delivery, evaluation, and early assessment of results, which could shape future public sector training and broader digital transformation plans.
