The People’s Friendship University of Russia has graduated its largest cohort of West African medical doctors to date, with 10 students completing the program. Two graduates, Dr. Alfred Osman Kamara and Dr. Hawanatu B. Marrah, earned Red Diplomas for distinction.
The ceremony at RUDN’s Korovy Val campus drew a high-level diplomatic delegation, university leadership, faculty, and families. Class valedictorian Dr. Alfred Osman Kamara, who graduated with honors as the top medical student of 2026, addressed the gathering. He is also former President of the National Union of Students in Russia.
Speaking before Ambassador Mohamed Yongawo, Rector Oleg Alexandrovich, and Director Alexey Yuryevich, Kamara thanked government and institutional partners for supporting international students abroad. He credited a 2021 diplomatic engagement for securing a medicine quota at RUDN, and praised the university for becoming “a home of limitless opportunity, academic rigor, innovation, and true international friendship.”
Kamara also acknowledged faculty mentors Professors Viktor Evseevich Radzinsky, Irina Alekseevna Zhirova, Martynov Alexey Yuryevich, and researcher Elena Valeryevna Kaverina for their guidance.
Beyond RUDN, 15 other students completed first degrees, Master’s, and PhD programs at Russian universities this year. University officials said the results reflect expanding academic cooperation and growing international enrollment.
In his closing remarks, Kamara urged his colleagues to uphold the responsibility of the medical profession. “We are now officially Medical Doctors, and this title carries with it enormous responsibility,” he said.
Ambassador Yongawo presented certificates to the graduates at the close of the ceremony, organized with the Students’ Union leadership.
