Mohamed Bangura, a security guard, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Center following his recent court appearance on serious charges of office breaking and larceny.
The allegations against Bangura arise from an incident reported on January 25, 2025, when he was accused of unlawfully entering the store and inventory unit at the Ministry of Energy’s Electricity Building on Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown.
According to the prosecution, Bangura is alleged to have stolen two laptops: a pink laptop valued at Le3,000 and a grey HP laptop, bringing the total estimated value of the stolen items to Le7,000. The stolen items reportedly belong to Junisa Baba Fofanah.
During the court proceedings, the charges were read to Bangura, who did not enter a plea. Prosecutor Inspector M. Taylor requested an adjournment to confer with a witness related to the case. Magistrate Sahr Kekura denied bail, ordering Bangura to remain in custody until the next hearing.
The court has scheduled the matter for further proceedings on March 5, 2025, as the legal process continues to unfold. These allegations come at a time when security measures in government facilities are under scrutiny, raising concerns about theft and integrity within public sector offices.
