Madam Musayeroh Barrie, the Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), has been awarded the Africa Women Leadership Impact Award at the launch of the Africa Women Summit UK in London.
The event convened leaders, diplomats, and women changemakers from across Africa and the diaspora to honor outstanding contributions to leadership and societal transformation.
In her acceptance speech, Madam Barrie expressed her gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a testament to perseverance and purpose. She dedicated the award to women who are working diligently to overcome obstacles and effect meaningful change in their communities.
Since her appointment in August 2023, Madam Barrie has made history as the first female and youngest Director General of the SLCAA. Under her leadership, significant reforms have been initiated to enhance Sierra Leone’s aviation sector, focusing on improved regulatory oversight, safety standards, and capacity building.
Her tenure has also marked notable achievements, including the relaunch of Air Sierra Leone and the resumption of direct flights between Freetown and London Gatwick.
Madam Barrie acknowledged that her accomplishments are made possible by the steadfast support of her family and colleagues, and she reaffirmed her dedication to promoting aviation excellence and empowering women in leadership roles.
