Sierra Leone’s Statistician-General, Andrew Bob Johnny, braved heavy rainfall on Wednesday to monitor the ongoing Mock Population and Housing Census in Hill Station, Freetown.
The visit was part of efforts to ensure the trial enumeration meets required standards of accuracy, transparency, and inclusiveness ahead of the national census.
On the ground, Mr. Johnny interacted with enumerators and supervisors, observed household interviews, and urged field teams to uphold professionalism despite the challenging weather.
“This exercise is critical to ensuring that our census process is credible and inclusive,” he told staff during the engagement.
Officials said the monitoring is intended to test systems, strengthen data quality, and build public confidence in the process. They added that the mock census will help identify logistical gaps and refine procedures before the full-scale national exercise.
