Lunsar, Tuesday September 9, 2026, Marampa Mines Limited has committed to providing financial assistance, compensation and insurance benefits to the family of Moses Simbo, an employee who died in a workplace accident last month.

The company said the incident occurred in August when a company truck unexpectedly moved forward after its drive shaft was disconnected. Simbo was trapped beneath one of its wheels and died at the scene.

In a statement, Marampa Mines said it has put together an immediate support package for the bereaved family. The package includes emergency financial assistance and other provisions to help the family during the period of grief.

The company further disclosed that the family is entitled to full compensation and end-of-service benefits. It added that life insurance and accident life insurance claims are also being processed, with each benefit equivalent to 100% of Simbo’s annual salary pending final confirmation.

Management expressed condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased, and reaffirmed its commitment to meeting all obligations arising from the fatal incident.

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security welcomed Marampa Mines’ response and stressed that the company must ensure all entitlements due to the family are fully paid without delay.

The Ministry also called on all mining and industrial companies to strengthen workplace safety measures to prevent similar tragedies.
