FREETOWN — A 27-year-old fisherman, Alhassan Morray, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility at Pademba Road after he was arraigned for allegedly stabbing and wounding a man at Tambacula Wharf, Aberdeen in Freetown.
Morray made his first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Monday, facing three serious charges including wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
According to court records, the accused is charged with wounding with intent contrary to Section 18, malicious wounding contrary to Section 20, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to Section 47 – all of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.
The prosecution alleges that on September 15, 2026, at Tambacula Wharf, Cape Road, Aberdeen, Morray unlawfully wounded Ibrahim Salieu Turay with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm. He is also accused of maliciously wounding and assaulting the same complainant, causing actual bodily harm.
The charges were read and explained to the accused in court, but no plea was taken as the matter is proceeding by way of committal proceedings to the High Court.
Prosecutor, Inspector Florence Wilson informed the court that the accused has been served with the case and inquiry file, and applied for subpoenas to be issued for prosecution witnesses who were absent.
In his ruling, Magistrate Fornah denied Morray bail on grounds of the gravity of the offences and ordered that he be remanded in custody.
The matter has been adjourned to October 29, 2026, for further hearing.
The accused remains innocent until proven guilty.
