Freetown, Sierra Leone — The Environment Protection Agency of the Government has officially welcomed a high-level delegation from the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA-Liberia) in a bid to enhance collaboration on pressing environmental issues in the region.
Led by Anthony S. Kollie, Acting Deputy Executive Director of EPA-Liberia, the delegation is in the country for a week-long visit designed to strengthen bilateral ties through the sharing of experiences and innovative environmental solutions.
During their stay, the Liberian team is scheduled to meet with officials from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, as well as other relevant ministries, to discuss strategies for enhancing cooperation between the two nations. The agenda includes a series of technical sessions that will focus on critical areas such as climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, waste and chemical management, compliance monitoring, and public awareness initiatives.
Additionally, discussions will delve into multilateral environmental processes, including the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and biodiversity strategies, along with commitments under global treaties like the Montreal Protocol.
This exchange visit presents an invaluable opportunity for the Liberian delegation to gain insights from the Government’s environmental programs and policy frameworks. The initiative aims to enhance technical capacity, strengthen environmental governance, and pave the way for collaborative projects between the two agencies.
