Parliament Greenlights 15 Presidential Nominees in Strong Show of Bipartisan Support

First Report of the Committee on Appointments and Public Service, chaired by Acting Leader of Government Business Hon. Bashiru Silikie, led to the approval of fifteen presidential nominees

Freetown – On October 15, 2025, the First Report of the Committee on Appointments and Public Service, chaired by Acting Leader of Government Business Hon. Bashiru Silikie, led to the approval of fifteen presidential nominees aimed at advancing the development of Sierra Leone.

The nominees approved by Parliament include:

  1. Mr. Stephen Mustapha Swaray – Member, Board of Directors, Bank of Sierra Leone
  2. Ing. Dr. Albert Fode – Director General, Sierra Leone Public Transport Authority
  3. Mr. Christian N. Ngombu, Esq. – Deputy Director General, Sierra Leone Public Transport Authority
  4. Mrs. Zorah Efua Beryl Anthony – Member, Board of Trustees, National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT)
  5. Mr. Umar Fuad Bawoh – Member, National Youth Commission
  6. Mr. Foday Conteh – Member, National Youth Commission
  7. Mr. Stephen Godfrey Swarray – Member, Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA)
  8. Mr. Emmanuel Delwyn Pratt – Member, Board of Trustees, NASSIT
  9. Mr. Sheik Dyphan Abass Massaquoi – Member, Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority Board (SLRSA)
  10. Ms. Ibnatu Nat Kanu – Member, National Youth Commission
  11. Mr. Abdul Kabba Kargbo – Member, SLCAA Board
  12. Mr. Swakata Sannoh – Member, Board of Directors, Sierra Leone Airports Authority (SLAA)
  13. Mr. Lamin Bangura – Member, Board of Trustees, NASSIT
  14. Mr. Moses Henry Kamara – Member, SLRSA
  15. Mr. Samuel Yusuf Tarawally – Member, National Youth Commission

Presenting the nominees, Hon. Silikie noted that they had undergone thorough interviews at the Parliament Building, focusing on their experiences and qualifications. He emphasized that the nominees were vetted on tax obligations, asset declarations, and their visions for productive tenures. The report reflects the committee’s unanimous support for the nominees.

In a show of bipartisanship, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara, Whip of the Opposition, acknowledged his role in the interviews and highlighted several nominees for their potential contributions to nation-building. He called for collective engagement to combat drug addiction and underscored the importance of national investments to secure the future.

Opposition Leader Hon. Abdul Kargbo stressed the need for nominees to prioritize the nation’s interests over personal gains. He specifically addressed issues within the road safety sector, urging nominee Moses Henry Kamara to tackle unauthorized vehicles and the rising number of road accidents, which he deemed alarming.

In response, Hon. Silikie described the appointments as a strategic move by the President and urged nominees to work collaboratively for the progress and development of Sierra Leone. He reiterated the distinct roles of Members of Parliament and the importance of respecting those positions as they fulfill their responsibilities.

The session concluded with a strong consensus on the nominees’ potential to contribute positively to the nation’s development, reflecting a commitment to working together across party lines for the betterment of Sierra Leone.
